Teaching Values and Character Education
How do children become moral people is a serious question before most parents
around the globe, and the answer is teaching values. For many reasons, the
state of society has reached a stage where it is more critical than ever
to impart Character Education to the children and educate them in the traditional
way by Teaching Values of their culture. In recent years there has been
considerable discussion about whether it is the responsibility of schools
to impart Character Education or is it to be left to the parents. There
is growing pressure for all teachers to educate children on morals and ethics,
through modeling, discussing and critiquing values-related issues. There
are many opportunities to teach the principles of Character Education through
existing subjects and topics.
Slowly and gradually people are showing interest in Teaching Values
to the younger generation. In some schools, it's about promoting pro-social
thoughts, values, and behaviors and having students act, as good citizens
should in school. In others, it's about developing specific desirable
values. For schools in general, Character Education is about finding
some way to help students develop good habits or virtues.
Another way to Teaching Values and Character Education is Homeschool
Programs. Through Homeschool Programs children reap many benefits from
the home atmosphere. The parents can make spiritual training a priority,
teaching Bible content family priorities every day. Not only this,
but students educated at home were also found to be superior academically.
Indeed no one other than parents can look after their children better.
Even the student's physical health benefits, because the parent can
control meals and exercise, and care is given to nutrition and good
health habits throughout the day.
Undoubtedly, it is wish of every parent that their children should be
excellent in almost every field (academically, socially, economically
and physically) and they generally put their best efforts in this regard.
But, today the problem in modern society is that when many parents work
and are under stress and lack free time, they do not have time for Teaching
Values and Character Education. Making the choice to homeschool may mean
