Craft Projects, and the messy homeschool supplies that go along with them

Craft projects are something that nearly all of us have taken part in at some point in our lives. Craft projects are very helpful teaching tools when tied in with other subject areas (i.e. science models, reading illustrations, social studies dioramas), and also develop children’s fine motor skills as they create. For this reason paint brushes, crayons, construction paper and the like should be considered homeschool supplies. Using these homeschool supplies will keep your child engaged, and allow art to be part of their learning experience.

In the past, it was very difficult to get information on craft projects and the materials alone could be daunting. But these days it becomes very easy to access information on these “homeschool supplies” because various websites have done all the hard work for you. Many reliable sites, such as Crayola, offer not only all the tools you will need for these art projects, but also a wide assortment of lesson plans that go with every holiday, subject area, and ability level. Make use of these online resources and expand your child’s imagination.

One last reminder…keep in mind when you take on these craft projects at home to be prepared for some mess. If you are concerned about getting paint on your rug, or glue on the table you might want to move all the homeschool supplies you will need outside. Find a way to take the limitations off your child’s creativity without losing your sanity.
